I know many of you will scoff at the idea of *NSYNC being on this list, but for me, this song is Christmas. I remember listening to this song when it was first released. It was the only Christmas song I had downloaded on my computer, so I just put it on loop. I remember listening to it over and over on Christmas Eve morning, while getting ready to go to my grandma's house. It may be the first modern day song that really got me into new Christmas music. "No matter what your holiday, it's a time to celebrate" with *NSYNC. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays is quite possibly the GREATEST CHRISTMAS SONG EVER!

Today's song is by an Ex-Beatle, Paul McCartney. The song is obviously "Wonderful Christmastime." I've always loved this Christmas song. I didn't realize who sang it until about two years ago. It has a wonderfully bouncy synth that reminds me of Christmas in the 1980s. Who doesn't want to go back to the 1980s? Life was so much simpler back then. Wait! This is exactly what my parents say about their childhood. Maybe we just remember our childhood Christmases as simple and easy because we just got to open presents and have fun. Now as an adult we have to rush around, do all the shopping, decorating, cooking, cleaning, living, etc. Hold on...this blog has gone way off track. Where was I originally...Oh yes. This is simply a wonderful Christmas song...possibly the GREATEST CHRISTMAS SONG EVER!

I don't know if I was living under a rock or what because I hear this song all the time now. But when Jovie was singing this song in the shower, I had no idea what the song was. After I got home from seeing that movie in the theater. I looked up the song and instantly fell in love with it. Now it's a holiday staple in my Christmas music collection. Continuing with the Christmas song theme, today's song is from my favorite band, The Killers. Each year, since 2006, they have released a Christmas song (you will probably see a few others posted before Christmas). This was their first Christmas track. The song is titled "A Great Big Sled." It has such a great classic, uplifting feel to it. I know that many people wouldn't consider this a staple in their Christmas music collection, but since 2006 I can't wait for this season to get here for me to start listening to "A Great Big Sled" over and over again. Today's song is really two songs. Well...it's actually one song, but performed by two different people. Look! There's two versions of this song that I like. The song is "Cool Yule," originally sung by Satchmo himself, Mr. Louis Armstrong. But this isn't the first version I heard of this song. The first version I heard was by Kurt Elling. It's on a Christmas compilation cd I have. I look forward to listening to this album (and more specifically this song) every year. It just puts me in that swingin' Christmas mood. The first song on this Holiday list of Greatest Songs Ever comes from Elvis. The song is "Blue Christmas." I love the soft melodic singing of Elvis on this track. He's not shaking, dancing, or wailing. It's just Elvis, pouring his heart into this song for a long lost love during the Christmas season.

I have found a new band to add to the list of my favorites: Matt & Kim. They are a simple, two person, indie, pop, rock band. Their songs are so freaking catchy that I can't stop listening to them. They have so many good songs but this song, Cameras, in particular is what drew me into Matt &Kim. WARNING! This video is filled with violence but it's still pretty awesome. I could probably post anything by Frank Sinatra and it be accepted as possibly the greatest song ever. There is just something about that era of music that was so amazing. I can't get enough of it. I have a channel on my Dish Network (955, I believe) that plays nothing but music like this. It's called Unforgettable. I could listen to it for hours and hours. I love this stuff.

I have a Frank Sinatra greatest hits album and this is the first track. So when it begins, I know I am in for some great music for the next hour. Come Fly With Me is possibly the GREATEST SONG EVER!

I randomly grabbed a CD off of my shelf the other day. I do this on occasion. I close my eyes, reach out and grab a CD. Whatever I grab is what I listen to. And this day I grabbed a mix CD I made many, many years ago. It was mostly rap from the late 1990s to early 2000s, artists DMX, Ice Cube, Method Man, Nas and many more. But the one track that stood out to me was "Superthug" by Noreaga (a.k.a. N.O.R.E.). I can't put my finger on why I love this track so much. I don't know if it's the weird synth lead or just the way Noreaga effortlessly flows over this track but, for some reason, I love this song. It's possibly the GREATEST SONG EVER!

I have said many times before, I don't like to post new songs on this blog because it's easy to really love a song when it is first released then it fades over time (I'm looking at you Macarena). But I'm breaking my rule once again. Actually I am shattering the rule for this song because this album isn't even out yet. Today's song is "Spotlight (Oh Nostalgia)" by Patrick Stump (Lead singer of Fall Out Boy).

This is such a powerful, inspirational song and the video only compounds how amazing it is. The video actually fills me up with emotion to the point of almost tearing up. It makes me feel like I can do anything or...maybe that's not the right way to look at it. The way to look at it is, you are really good at something. It may be basketball, skateboarding, writing stories, singing, or in Patrick's case, song writing. No matter what that is, you can be your own spotlight. And that is why this song is possibly THE GREATEST SONG EVER!

A Road Trip To The Greatest Song Ever

Last year I took a road trip to Memphis, TN with my dad and brother. When in Memphis we hit Beale Street and ate dinner at B.B. Kings Blues Club. The food was great, the atmosphere was awesome, and the band on stage was amazing. It was a 16 year old kid named Will Tucker. He had amazing guitar skills and unbelievable soul. When we got ready to leave I contemplated on buying his CD, but ultimately I passed. When I got home, I kept checking the Will Tucker website and facebook page. I couldn't get this song out of my head. So when I got an iTunes gift card for Christmas this year, I made sure to pick up "Stealin' the Soul" by Will Tucker. This album has many covers but my favorite song is an original tune titled "Your Sacrifice". The riffs on this record are so catchy and the lyrics are fun and soulful. This is one of those songs that after it's done, I just want to hit repeat and listen to it over and over again. This is possibly the GREATEST SONG EVER!

I was asked at the end of 2010 what the best album of the previous year was. For me it's a toss up between Brandon Flowers - Flamingo and My Chemical Romance - Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. So today I will be posting a song from Danger Days. This song is amazing and the video is pretty awesome as well. My Chemical Romance has become one of my favorite bands in the past few years. This song is amazing it starts out at a break neck pace that you think can't possibly be kept up for the entire song. But it does. If the hook of "Na na na na" doesn't stick in your head all day then you are either dead or deaf.

I first heard this song when I was on vacation in New York City with my brother and a friend of ours. Our friend was really into eurodance music but it was going the way of the dodo by this point. So it was hard for him to find the newest imports at our local record stores in Indianapolis. We hit the large Virgin record store at Times Square and he bought several cds. This was one of them. I knew who N-Trance was before this song, so I had an idea as to what this might be like but I had not idea it would be this great.

You might think it's sacrilegious to add a hip-hop, eurodance flair to such an iconic metal song but I think it creates possibly the GREATEST SONG EVER!

I love when two or more artists come together to create music. It's a great thing to see music styles mesh. The story behind the track is that RUN D.M.C. didn't even know the original song. They were just messing around with the record because they liked the drum beat and guitar at the beginning of this track. They thought the song was called "Toys In The Attic" which was the name of the album that the original song was on. A producer heard it, loved it, and brought the two bands together. Music history was born.

Today's songs come from Queen. These are their most popular songs but they give me chills every time I listen to them. Today's songs, "We Are The Champions" and "We Will Rock You".

If you have been to a sporting event ever, you have heard these two songs. There is no escaping these two tracks. I don't know if Queen knew what they were doing when they wrote these two tracks but if they did, they are geniuses. To associate yourself with sporting events for the rest of eternity will bring in more fans and more money than you could imagine. I'm surprised that more artists don't try to create an all "sports arena" album. Some have tried to cover "We Will Rock You". Some succeeded (warrant). Others not so much (snoop dogg). And we even had great renditions of "We Are The Champions" on Rockstar: INXS and Rockstar: Supernova. But no one can recreate perfection.

Nevertheless, these two songs speak to the core of sports. "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions", these two songs could possibly be the GREATEST SONGS EVER!
